Would you like to find some free ways to entertain your children in the Oklahoma City area? I get it!
Attending birthday parties, amusement parks and some play places for children can get pricey. If you have more than one child; it may seem a little frustrating paying fifteen bucks for each child to attend children's activities and events.
Brittany’s Play Adventure in Mustang, Oklahoma is complete with a splash pad. We have only visited during Fall months thus far…so have yet to explore that area. As far as the playground; there is plenty for children to climb and do I felt. We visit quite a few local parks and now this one is a favorite!
The Oklahoma Hall of Fame does an activity weekly throughout certain months that is free called Discovery Days.

Children deserve to have plenty of play time and some of the free places in Oklahoma City are so much fun for them. For starters; check out events in your area on social media. I find so many free of charge family-friendly festivals; especially around the Summer and Fall. Many have exhibitors who like handing out free merchandise or promotional materials such sunglasses, fans or candy to promote their businesses.
Visiting some local festivals is a good way to exercise usually if it’s outdoors or a larger event. Usually the food is expensive so it’s cheaper to eat at home beforehand and just bring cash for children to get snow cones at the festival.

When weather is nice; check out events with food trucks such as Heard on Hurd. It is a street festival that is usually starting in March yearly and goes into Fall months. If you do not want to spend money; eat before and just got to walk and enjoy the live music.
Barnes and noble used to have free train tables for children; they may still since the pandemic.
Martin nature park has a park and you may even spot deer. If you bring cat food; you are welcome to feed the fish and turtles on the bridges. A lot of people visit this park for early morning hikes since it is usually open around six a.m.
Will Rogers gardens is nice for taking photos or browsing the gardens. There is a park close by. Children may enjoy looking at the geese. If you do ever need a venue for an event; Will Rogers Gardens does offer very affordable rates for reserving party rooms.
Scissortail Park is a lot of fun in the warmer months. Often times; there are concerts, food trucks and a splash pad open. This park is larger than many of the others in the area. The food is not free but you can pack a picnic or eat beforehand.
Now let’s chat about the children’s garden in downtown Oklahoma City. It’s right next to the crystal bridge at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
Myriad botanical gardens is free to walk around the outdoor area. Sometimes free story time for children is offered; check out their events. Yoga is complimentary here twice a week currently for adults; what a great way to get more relaxed and fit this year.
Usually around early Fall is when the children's garden stays open until. At the children's garden children can enjoy a merry-go-ground and area to run. I seen so many butterflies there that last time I visited. The carousel was not free; it was around $3 a person without a membership. I noticed parents were charged if their child wasn’t a certain height. Just warning you to bring extra cash perhaps.
Visiting downtown certain hours can save you parking costs as well. I aim for weekends when street parking can be free.
A lot of times the local Library 📚 offers free classes for children. Toys were put up the last time I visited due to the pandemic. It still is nice to get out the house and check out some new books to read to your children for some bonding time back at home.
Paseo is an artsy area to walk and take cute photos or eat at a family-friendly restaurant.
Bricktown is also an area to walk around and sight-see. It is a popular tourist attraction in Oklahoma City City.

North Park Mall has family-friendly restaurants but you can walk around inside during winter months if you like to exercise safely. Keep this mall in mind around Christmas so you can take your children to get a photo with Santa.
My son and I visited the Underground Tunnel a few months ago. We entered through the entrance close to Skirvin Hotel.
